Objects
This project started with exploring the concept of suffering in religions, drawing inspiration from symbols like the cross in Christianity and the paintings of Matthias Grünewald. Engaging with literature and articles in this field, I became intrigued by the relationship between art and violence. Influenced by Michel Foucault’s book ‘Discipline and Punish,’ I delved into the idea of punishment becoming abstract in societies. My project revolves around creating abstract and unreal objects that provoke new contemplations and thoughts. These objects are inspired by historical art and paintings but have been detached from their original context, acquiring new meanings. The project is a work in progress, where I strive to emphasize the human position in the process of power production and its abstraction. By separating and reconstructing these images, I intend to underscore the human role in power production and its abstraction. By isolating and analyzing objects from their original contexts, these creations appear nonsensical and illogical, fostering purposeless and unstable experiences for the observer.
